Rs. 120 cr. deal between Indian Films & Vipul for London Dreams scrapped

Exactly a year back, right after the release of Singh Is Kinng, it was announced amidst much fanfare that Indian Films was in the process of acquiring London Dreams for a never heard before figure of Rs. 120 crores. It was obvious that Vipul Shah, maker of this Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan and Asin starrer, had hit the jackpot with the biggest ever deal for a Bollywood film.

However, as things stand today, the deal is scrapped. Indian Films is no longer associated with London Dreams and Vipul Shah is happy to go back to the old school method of selling the film to various distributors across the country.

“Yes, there is nothing happening with Indian Films as far as London Dreams is concerned. Frankly, I am not dependent on the corporate houses to see my film release in theaters. I have enough distributors across the country who are willing to pick the film and I am more than glad to release the film through them”, says Vipul Shah who has announced the release of the film as 30th October and has already begun the promotional campaign.

Looking at the response that the promos are expected to generate, what if a corporate house, including even Indian Films, shows a renewed interest in the project and is willing to renegotiate? Would he be willing to have a discussion?

“See, I am doing business here. Whatever works best for my film, I will do that. But no, I am not waiting for anyone here. There are great offers already and it’s a matter of time before they are sealed and announced”, Vipul responds.

While the figure quoted by Vipul was Rs. 120 crores at the time of announcement of London Dreams, it is but natural that in today’s market scenario, the amount would be much lesser. This is understandable too since the entire recession and slow down did impact consumers as well as the making of the films, something that reflects in the extremely poor success rate that Bollywood had to show for most part of the first half of 2009.

No wonder, while Shah Rukh Khan’s My Name Is Khan is said to have been sold for Rs. 98 crores, even Kites and Three Idiots have not crossed the elusive Rs. 100 crores mark.

“These are all big films that you mention and also the most anticipated in the coming months. Hence they also serve as a benchmark for us”, says Vipul, “Since London Dreams too pretty much falls in the same bracket, it would be a matter of 5%-10% drift. Our film is not far behind either.”

Bachelor Party

Bachelor Party is comedy flick from  Ishaan Trivedi. He has directed Irrfan Khan and Juhi Chawla starred 7 1/2 Phere before. Jimmy Shergill and Nauheed Cyrusi played key roles in this movie.

This movie is going to release on September 4th 2009. No other big movies are there to give tough competition to this movie. Madhrui Bhattacharya and Arbaaz Khan are other cast for this movie.

Director has n’t yet revelead any thing about this movie. He maintained very profile in publicity also.

Bipasha at 'Tere Mere Beech Mein'

Teased as ‘Lady Goonda‘ by her peer group during her school days in Kolkata, actress Bipasha Basu says she used to beat everyone around trying to act smart with her.

“I used to keep a stick in my hand and straighten all the colony boys if they acted smart. I used to be very short as a child and I was the monitor in school. When the tall boys would be upto mischief, I’d jump on their back during breaks and pull their hair and beat them up,” the Bollywood star revealed.

In her earlier days in Mumbai, Bipasha used to keep a hammer in her purse to protect herself from all danger, the Bollywood actress told director-turned-television host Farah Khan on Star Plus’ new chat show ‘Tere Mere Beech Mein‘, to be broadcast this Sunday.

But for Bipasha Basu most important are her films.The actress revealed that she believes all her movies have been in some way important. She is completely passionate about films.

Soon the actress will be seen in Ajay Devgan production All The Best.

New Features on MeraMood

An update on this previous post:

MeraMood.com has now added social networking features and made it possible to filter songs by actors and movies. Ability to filter by lyricists is, wisely, gone. The latest movies are now available for playback. MeraMood debuted an iPhone-compatible website a while back that, I must say, works impressively well. They’ve also added the ability to view videos as mentioned in one of the comments on the previous post. The site now takes feedback via a link on the top right, and has buttons for rating songs (thumbs up or down) and reporting songs that are not playing or are in the wrong category.

Since wishing aloud seems to work, I’d now like the ability to filter by jazz and classical-based songs, and by the film director. Perhaps filmi khandaans too? And while they’re at it, world peace.

While you wait for that to happen, I definitely recommend you check out the website for some sweet Hindi-film goodness.

Tere Mere Sapne

Tere Mere Sapne was 1996 Bollywood movie produced Super Star Amitabh Bachchan and directed by Joy Augustine. This movie marked debut of Simran, Arshad Warsi, Priya Gill and Chandrachur Singh.

Story revolves around two boys Rahul (Chandrachur Singh) and Balu (Arshad Warsi) whose date of birth is same. Rahul is son of multi millionaire, after losing his parents he stays with his grand parents in London. Balu belongs to a middle class family works as taxi driver.

When Rahul visits India, he takes hires Balu’s taxi for his journey. After few misunderstandings, they both becomes close. Balu goes into Rahul’s place as his guest and falls in love with Pooja (Simran). On the other hand Rahul who went to Rahul’s place falls in love with Balu’s sister Paro (Priya Gill).What are the problems they faced to win their love is the remaining story.

Pran appeared as grand father of Chandrachur Singh.

Only plus point for this movie, all the movies which are going to release on August 28th are comedy movies, only this movie is action thriller.

Raavana Effect On other Movies

Mani Ratnam is one of the most experienced director in India Film industry. But he never learns lessons from his previous mistakes. With every movie he is coming with new concepts and new screenplays, every one agrees it and appreciates him for such effort.

But this veteran director never completes movie according to the schedule. Recent Raavana movie is example for that. In past also he delayed movies. But this time many interruptions are coming. This is effecting other movies shootings.

Especially Aishwarya Rai’s movies are going back. Vipul Shah has planned Ash and Akshay Kumar starred Action Replay to release on October 2nd but he has postponed this movie for December.

Aishwarya Rai is not attending properly for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gujarish shooting also, she paired opposite Hrithik Roshan in this movie.

MUNNABHAI AKA SANJAY DUTT & PRABODH DAVKHARE OF HEALTHWORKS INDIA TO GET INTO THE FITNESS BUSINESS??

Munnabhai aka Sanju baba aka Sanjay Dutt dropped a bombshell on Saturday when at a very select press meet at the Healthworks Gym at Thane, he said that he was considering launching a series of fitness clubs and gyms along with ‘good friend’ and fitness freak Prabodh Davkhare.

Sanjay even went steps ahead and said that if Prabhod Davkhare found it right, he would love to be the brand ambassador for the brand of gyms and fitness clubs. ‘Prabodh Davkhare is a good friend and I have always told him to push his efforts even further. I would love to be the brand ambassasdor of his gyms if Prabodh finds me suitable for the job,” said Sanju baba modestly.

Prabodh Davkhare runs one of the most modern and sophisticated fitness clubs and gyms in Thane called Healthworks gym.  While going through the gym, Sanjay Dutt worked out for about ten minutes on the thread mill, the weights machine and even pushed some iron.

Sources close to Prabodh Davkhare said that Sanju baba is very keen on the fitness business and the two of them have been contemplating starting a chain of fitness clubs for some time. Confirming this, Prabodh Davkhare said, ‘I would love to have Sanjay Dutt to advise my gym members and clients. Sanjay Dutt is one of the fittest Bollywood stars and is the epitome of health in the country. He has maintained his physique in spite of several ups and downs in his life. For Sanju fitness comes first.”

Munnabhai aka Sanju baba aka Sanjay Dutt  spent almost two hours at the Healthworks Gym at Thane on the outskirts of Mumbai along with promoter Probodh Davkhare on Saturday.

 Munnabhai exercised, lifted weights, pressed some iron and even watched a demonstration of Karate along with about 200 excited fitness freaks from the area. He shared tips with the staff and even demonstrated certain correct methods of lifting weights, pressing iron etc.

Sanju baba and Prabodh Davkhare later on addressed a press conference where Sanjay Dutt answered about 50 to 100 questions from the audience regarding health, fitness, right diet etc. There were about 200 fitness enthusiasts present at the venue while a crowd of about 2000 persons gathered out the Healthworks Gym to get a glimpse of their favourite superstar.

Speaking at the Press Conference, Prabhodh Davkhare praised and thanked Sanju Baba for taking time out of his busy schedule to encourage and support the youngsters. “Sanjay Dutt has been a great source of help and encouragement both personally and for the entire staff at Healthworks India, and I thank him on behalf of every member and employee at Healthworks India,” said Prabodh Davkhare.

Sanjay Dutt also praised Prabodh Davkhare for his efforts to popularise the idea and concept of fitness.

Not too long ago, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan also visited the Healthworks Gym and spent almost an hour with the crowd. Other stars who were present included Zulfi Sayed  and many other lesser known Bollywood personalities.

Both the former Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and the current CM have visited the Healthworks Gym and encouraged Prabodh Davkhare and his team to spread the message of fitness across the city.

Healthworks India and Prabodh Davkhare have announced several special schemes for Government Employees, Police Officials and even students who can get maximum benefit from them and stay fit and healthy.
